Cross Stitch #7: My First StitchCon Experience!

Cross Stitch #7: My First StitchCon Experience!

Hello everyone! Wow this has been a long time coming since my
last video, I wanted to reintroduce myself. My name is Corey (name sign), The Silent Stitcher!
I just want to preface this by letting you know I’m in a different place
because I have cats around so more likely will have cats jump up, just to
let you know in advance. So this is post StitchCon! I went last weekend, so much fun! Excuse me. It was my second retreat! Last
year I went to Needlework Galleria for the first time, I enjoyed it – it was a lot
of fun, I bought a lot of stuff. I stitched, met so many nice people, but it was short it was three
days. I was there for two days during the day. This StitchCon… almost 400 people
went! I got to meet so many people. Many people that I knew from Flosstube on
the internet, meeting them in person for the first time was so wonderful! And I was a
little bit nervous too because watching them, you got to know them through floss tube and then
meet them in person, it’s a little bit nervous I was glad that I went.
I felt like I was at home with the community, these people. I got to see
beautiful works they did. I did meet the staff who ran StitchCon, so nice, nice
people! I wanted to personally thank all the staff for StitchCon for giving me
this experience that I will always treasure and for giving me access with
interpreters so that I could access or know everybody else everybody all of you
better and chat with you! I’m just forever grateful for that and I will see
you next year stitch con 2020! See you there!
I wanted to tell you what I got what I worked on, some of the finishes that I
had since the last video which was last September. It’s my fault really, life kind
of got in the way and I had a job but I don’t work there anymore. I’ve got a new
job last month, I love my job now. Things are going good, I definitely want to
update more often. Especially with the possibility of having voice over on
the videos so that way my captions work because it cuts down a little bit
which is the reason why I haven’t been posting videos with captions because it
took me forever. So it kind of made me less motivated to
do them because of that. So for this video will be voice over hopefully! So
let’s get on with it, I’ll show you what I got. This beautiful bag! I was not expecting all of the things that I got. It was
just amazing! Love this bag! I will definitely use it with projects, all of
it. Beautiful bag. See what I got.. I came in to StitchCon knowing that I’m
wouldn’t, maybe not have the possibility to buy a lot because I have a new job, and I
wanted to save money plus the hotel. But I did what I could.
There was a lot of freebies, there was a freebie table, needle minder exchanges.
People made need minders for the exchange, it was so cool! This is the passport and had all
the questions that would make you try to think of which Flosstuber is that person.
You could go and get a sticker and they would put it in your book for example: the first one I knew was Abby, TopKnot
Stitcher! It was a cool idea but I also had some
suggestions with this because obviously, I don’t watch all of them, some of them
don’t have closed captioning either so it was a little bit difficult for me. I
don’t know who some of these people are. But it was a cool idea! Sorry if it’s noisy or whatever. I bought some fabric; so I bought some
fabric from Abby prior to StitchCon. I’m glad I did, this fabric is gorgeous. It’s 28 count
I’m pretty sure. I don’t know what I’m gonna stitch on
this but I will find something! Thank you Abby! Also met Abby in person!
Best thing ever, she is exactly like she is in her videos. So sweet, nice, funny. I took two pictures with her because she
was such a cool person! I shopped in the annex twice because
there’s so many things to look at and cool people waiting in line for like 30
minutes it was crazy, but I bought in the annex one pattern. Because I have enough
at home! Needle Bling Designs, ‘Spooky’. I have a really good purple fabric
that will be perfect for this. I’m excited about that one. See the black cat? So cute! The vendors at the annex, they had a
variety. There was Colour & Cotton, Under The Sea Fabrics,
Lindy Stitches by Stephanie Webb, that’s her shop and I bought something to have
to add to the back of my framed works. I thought it was a really cool idea, easy
to do and keep track of. Right now, I have really an obsession with blue. I have
blue hair right now! Colour & Cotton, Spring Morning. That’s pretty true to the real color. When I saw Under The Sea Fabrics, I
wasn’t planning on buying anything from that table but the second time I went, I
was looking and I found that I could have fabric cut into a
quarter. So I found this and Lauren, the CatLadyStitcher, and I gave you a
name sign! Lauren. She said I should get this because she told me you have a good eye for color. Rainbows, it’s gorgeous! It’s called Iris, 32 count Lugana It’s beautiful! It’s like the sunset sunrise sunset no
sunrise, I’m only on my first cup of coffee so excuse me! I bought some needle minders too. This is my collection! I bought from the annex… Little book of spells, so cute!
Because I like Halloween stuff from Mag… Mag Designs, I think. Of course I bought a StitchCon
needle minder! Keepsakes had their own things for sale,
black cat is the theme because 310 is black and I have a black cat so perfect! One of the other people that I met was
Ryann from Wild Violet Cross Stitch, I was so thrilled to meet her there and I have a pattern of hers and I
got to show her and she was giving out needle minders so she gave me one. Isn’t that cute? Love it. I got some others, they were free to exchange.
I met Donna Rae of Flannel Jammies Farm in person! Love you! Sweet person, sweetest person
ever. She’s like the hip grandmother everyone wants! And I got a needle minder from her. Cute! A bee, perfect because she’s a honey bee keeper. This one I got from Lauren, CatLadyStitcher. Coffee because of course I love coffee! I wish I could remember who I got this
from. I know I saw you last year at Galleria.. I think Laura Ellis? I could be
wrong, but Scrabble! My first initial! Love Scrabble. Growing up, I always played it with my great-grandmother’s original Scrabble game. Family heirloom! Perfect! This is a little one, it’s tiny. It’s an
owl, I wish I could remember who I got this from. Sorry if you watch this please
let me know! Abby gave me this one with fabric that I bought from and she makes needle minders in her shop, TopKnot stitcher on Etsy go
check it out! Beautiful gold. The last one is from Kea
Bee, Kea and her husband have a bee farm (I’m assuming?) a farmhouse and they have Flosstube but I
haven’t watched them before – I have two parts of them, the first one. It’s cute! and the back that goes with this, another
bee! So cute and that’s it. All the needle minders I’ve got. Okay. More freebies! Thought it was cute and includes
everything it’s a kit, perfect project for summer. Someone donated some fabric for the freebie
table, I saw it, I liked it and I thought maybe I could make a project
bag from it. It’s a fun orange color! I know some people who love orange, so… This was part of the bag, beautiful! I
will definitely use it. this was included in the bag too – I’m not really crazy about it so if any of you want it please let me know!
It’s from Raise The Roof, it’s not really my thing. Some don’t have pictures, so I can’t show
everything. Some of my favorite freebies! Of course this one, I will definitely stitch
that one. By Petal Pusher. Love this one, definitely on my list to
do. Some of them don’t have pictures so I
can’t show them. Yeah some of them don’t
have the pictures, sorry about that. Look I got this one from the freebie
table, it’s a Mill Hill Trick-or-Treat I’ve never done one. I thought it was really cute, I know I have other Mill Hill kits I have them somewhere, I just
have to find them. It has the floss and the beads already. Stephanie Webb was passing this out, really cute! I found black fabric,
it’s 28 count Monaco – I love Monaco fabric I don’t know what I’m gonna stitch on this but
probably something Halloween. No, no down! Cats are on the kitchen island, they know
they’re not supposed to be over there. Hey, down. Anyways. One of the interpreters found this for
me on the freebie table, because they know I like Halloween. I really like the
black cat with the pumpkin, I might need to buy some perforated paper for that.
There’s some really cute stuff. Now – Keepsakes… I didn’t buy a lot there’s
so many people inside a small space trying to shop and buy what I want and
then leave. Two more things to show you that I
bought from the annex, Colour & Cotton Sweetpea. Beautiful! Blue, Galactic. Dark
blue/purple, so beautiful. Keepsakes. Shortcut floss, only $1. This is Morning Glory, and Classic Colorworks Blue Beadboard. Like a very light blue. Needles, because I need more and these are my favorite. Just need to take this off. This is Wichelt Jobelan called
“Lazy River” and I have this fabric but it’s not exactly this, I finished and I’ll show you. This is also by Wichelt, it’s so soft.
The fabric, I don’t know what it’s called unfortunately. It’s so pretty! That is it for Keepsakes. Oh wait, one
more thing I bought from the annex too. I had no idea what they were, I saw a
picture of Steph with these and they helps to hold your fabric in so they don’t
slip. Brilliant! So I bought them they were like 79 cents each, love
them already. I’ll probably buy more on Amazon best thing ever! Someone made beautiful scissor fobs and
put them on the freebie table, I don’t know who but I love this one that’s a
little bird, I love the little bird. So I only worked on three things at
StitchCon. The first one was… and I had a finish! Two finishes and I rang the
bell twice, so it was really exciting. Halloween Kitty by Satsuma Street. I love it so much! On Midsummer Night’s Dream by Under
The Sea Fabrics, I showed it to Leslie and she loved it so we took a picture
together with this. I plan on framing this at some point. This was my retreat start and finish its
#GiveLoveGetLove by By The Bay Needlearts and the hashtag is from Jan Hicks Creates who is on Flosstube. I did this because I wanted to
celebrate Pride Month. The thread is gorgeous. It’s Bailey’s Balloons by
Threadworx. 32 count. It’s beautiful. I plan on making it into a pillow I think
it’ll be really good. Start and finish in less than 48 hours. The other project I’ve been working on
there, I Love You More Than Yesterday by Stephanie Webb ( Lindy
Stitches). This is Colour & Cotton fabric but I
can’t remember the name of this I’ll probably find it later. It’s my own
called for colors, this is Bermuda by Colour & Cotton. I chose it as a gift
for my partner because we’re celebrating our three year anniversary next month,
it’s sort of an inside joke and kind of fun, kind of ironic
pun because we don’t get on each other’s nerves! I’m almost finished with this but I need to do the border. I also bought something to ffo this. I bought an
ornament the other day so I could empty my ORTs so this is two years worth! This one is definitely going to go on the Christmas mantle for sure. Some of the finishes I’ve had since the
last video. this one I was talking about earlier, this is the same as the other fabric. Wild Violet Cross Stitch. Royal Skeleton Cameos. Beautiful! Carmen (Broadway Stitcher) she started the #SitASpellSAL when she passed onto me the pattern and I passed the pattern
on when I was done. This is on 36 count, it’s really tiny! it’s my colors that was my choice, but all
weeks dye works I’m gonna finish this the same way that Carmen did on the
rocking chair. This one I finished about a couple months ago by Witchy Stitches,
called Witchy Brew on 28 count Ancient by Picture This Plus. Super cute! This was by Notforgotten Farm. I did start the Black Cat Hollow
last year as part of a SAL, and somewhere along the way I decided to do the first
part and then add the words from the second part underneath. I plan on FFOing this one for sure.
I made the decision to just be finished with this one. Okay we’re almost at 40
minutes almost done! I did an FFO last night. This is ABC pumpkin by JBW designs.
28 or 32 count Colour & Cotton, I love it! I didn’t know I had this orange button but it was perfect
I’m happy. Oh I might paint the edges the same color. Carmen gave me this, I love it!
It matches my cup, thank you! Ok, lastly there was a smalls exchange and
the person that got mine loved it so much, made me happy about that. I left the actual smalls gift
exchange upstairs… there is a picture on my Instagram if you haven’t figured it
out yet, I’ve changed my Instagram name I’m now
@thecraftjack. I’ll put it in the description below. I left it upstairs yup. Anyway Leslie from Under The Sea asked
me to pick a token, a color token and she gave me this. It’s to measure your fabric if you
start from the corners, it’s really handy and there’s a pattern inside, I would
show but there’s no picture. this was included as part of the bag, it’s cute!
Definitely putting this on the Christmas mantle. because I’m Hufflepuff, I was part of the
Magical Stitches Facebook group there I’m not part of it anymore.
But Michelle from Mich_stitch gave me this, she’s Mich_stitch on Flosstube and Instagram and she gave it to me because
she didn’t really care for it so she gave it to me I can put whatever I want
in there, it’s adorable! That’s it, that’s all I have for you! it’s
40 minutes try and wrap it up I just want to say I had a wonderful time at
StitchCon, I was so excited to go and I will go back again for sure next year
and I will see you next time, next video! Happy stitching, bye!
