Fishing Knots: Egg Loop Knot – How to Tie an Egg Loop Knot

HOW TO TIE THE EGG LOOP KNOT:
Hello everybody. Welcome to Fishthatwontquit. Today I’m going to show you
how to tie the egg loop knot. The egg loop
knot is a great knot used to add eggs to your hook as well as you can add yarn or
any other kind of attractant that you like. Plus, it is a strong knot so you feel
confident with it in the water. So with
your hook in one hand and your line in the other, go ahead and run your tag in
through the eye of the hook. You’re going
to want to make sure it’s in this direction. You’re gonna pinch off the left side and
hold it along the hook shank. The next
step is to take the right side of this line and you’re going to wrap it around
the eye the hook plus the line and the hook shank here. With the thicker line I
like to do about four to six wraps and with a lighter line six to ten wraps. So
we’ll do about six with this one. So
around the eye the hook for, one… two… three… four… five… six… and you’ll
want to keep tension on this line and keep these
loops nice and tight for the next step. The next step is to take the other side
of your line and you’re gonna run that in the opposite direction through the
eye of the hook just like so. And with
this part of the line you’re going to want to run it along the hook shank just
like you did at the beginning of the knot. Now what you should have, is
something like this. Now with the line
you’ve already created your first set of loops with you’re gonna go ahead and
continue your loops around the two lines here and the hook shank. We will do about
the same amout of wraps as before. So, one… two… three… four… five…
six… and same as befor, keep tension on this
line to keep these loops from unraveling. And you’re going to grab this tag end
and pull it through while keeping tension on everything. Now once you to a
point where you can’t really pull through, I like to grab everything with my
right hand… and this little loop you want above the hook here… and then you just
finish off by pulling the rest of the tag and through and under your fingers
it’s actually creating that knot. What you’re left with is something like this. What you want to do is go and pull the
rest through and really set that knot on the hook just like so. Now you have a
little tag end here to cut off and you can cut that off as close as you like. What you’re left with is a completed egg
loop knot. As you can see, you can run this
line through the eye of the hook freely and add your baits or attractants right
in that loop and then cinch it on down. And that is the egg loop knot. I hope you
enjoyed. If you liked the video go ahead and

  1. Wait a minute, I think I learned something today ! I will definitely try this with the chicken liver, its a great tip ! 😃👍👍

  2. I like your videos. Especially those videos about rig setups. This is your third egg loop vid! I have a feeling you have a lot more fishing knowledge to share.

  3. That was by far the best explanation I have ever seen of how to tie the egg loop knot. I needed it to explain to my wife and fishing partner (same person) howto tie the knot. I do appreciate how you took your time explaining as you go. Thank you so much.
