Flower & Granny Baby Blanket Part 1 – Crochet Tutorial

Flower & Granny Baby Blanket Part 1 – Crochet Tutorial

hi guys in another tutorial I showed you how to make this heart motif and also in another tutorial I showed you how to
make these granny square that are going to be a part of this blanket so for this tutorial i’ll be showing you how to turn your heart into a baby blanket using the granny squares and the puff flowers so once you’ve done the tutorial and you have your heart completed what you need to do on the bottom part of the heart the bottom should be full flowers and you’ll have nine total across the bottom and then the second row you will have half flowers on each side and eight full flowers then you get to the next, four
full powers like each side of the tip of the flower then the next row you will have four full flowers and two half flowers on each side print side then the next row with the three flowers you will have three full flowers on each side there when you get to the four you’ll have two full flowers and a half flower on each side You will have two full flowers on the five flower row on each side then when you have your row of six flowers for the heart you’ll have one full and one half flowers and the side then you get to your seven flowers row,
you’ll have one full flower on side so you come to your eight which is the largest row of flowers for the heart and you will have a half flower on each side then the top of the heart of the heart you have three and three, part of the heart you will have one full flower in the middle, and one full flower on each side. then the very top tip of the heart you have two flowers and two flowers and in the center of those, two full flowers and on either side of those, one full flower and a half and then again at the top here your first row above the flower will be
nine full flowers two four six eight nine then the very last row will be eight flowers and two half flowers on the sides so once you’ve made all your flowers and you have to this point now than i’ll show you how to start the border on
this when you’re doing a half an hour when you want to do is do your connections like you would a regular flower like if you’re going to do one like this start with your very first petal so you make your center then make your first petal then do your first connection for your petal which in this case would be this one you do your connection here, the you make and connect your next petal just like you would your other flowers, only after you get your fourth connection like you would here, every flower has four connections, you would just not make the last two petals you just slip stitch into the next stitch chain one and cut your yarn leaving you 4 empty stitches unworked at the top of the flower You want to make sure that your corners, have four petals. This one I made the first petal and finished it, then connected the next three petals as normal. So make sure to have that fourth petal the corner connected flowers Make it this way because it does matter for the finalized look of the square Theirs going to be a different border for the top and the bottom because its a straight row of flowers and will be another way to do the sides that have the half flowers so start with your heart facing this way or the other side then you can start on this corner and it’s the same if you want to flip it over with your puff flowers facing you, and you will start at the same side same start either way no matter which side you decide to use so i’m going to be using white when I do my actual border, but so that you can see what i’m doing, i will be
using this purple color when we did the flowers we used a
four point five-millimeter hook when you’re ready to start the border you want to switch to a five-millimeter hook or a size H hook also for this project besides a five-millimeter hook you’re
going to be using the same ply yarn. Just a different color but same ply which is four ply for ths US and ten ply for australia so once you decide which side of this you want to use. I am going to use the Puff flower side my daughter said she liked this side better let me get closer as you know as you’ve been attaching these flowers that they all had these chain three sections here and then they have the top section where you connected to make the puff stitch so i’m going to be calling this the top puff stitch connection so when I say “the top puff stitch” connection, I’m talking about this little stitch at the top and when I say the chain three space i’m talking about
one of these spaces here these are your chain three spaces it’s very important to remember to start this side we’re going to be
working on this side only so we’re only going to be using this
three space to begin so go into your first china three space and attach your yarn with a single crochet attachment the only differenceis instead of pulling your yarn through to slip stitch, instead you just yarn over and pull through both loops to single crochet instead you want to put three single crochets into this first chain three space so that’s one, two and three now go ahead and turn you work, so you can work on this side so we can work on it easier you have four one-two-three-four unworked stitches left on your flower so these are the next four stitches
you’re going to be doing a singe crochet counting…. one two three and four and now you have another of the chain three spaces here you want to put one single crochet and that’s how you work every half flower on the side and in the corner this is the corners so it has three, but normally you put one single crochet
in that petal, then in each of the next five stitches as well okay when you get to these lower ones you want to do two double crochets using this chain three space here on this flower so put two double crochets in this first chain three space and now in between the pedals you’ll have a stitch and if you can’t find the stitch or you can’t put your hook through it, then you can go down into the stitch of the actual flower and do a double crochet in that one just find somewhere in between these two petals to put it then again you want to put two double crochets in the chain three space of this flower so all full flowers on the side will be worked two double crochets in the chain three space one double crochet in between the petals, and then two double crochets in the last chain three space now we’re starting again on a half flower so in the first chain three space of the first petal we put one single crochet then you put one single crochet into the next
four petals i mean stitches sorry two three and four then we come to our next petal and put a single crochet into the chain three space so again we have single crochet in this chain three space and we worked one single crochet in the next four stitches and one single crochet in the last chain three space of the petal on this side now we’re going to our next full flower again the first petal we’re going to be puttoing two double
crochets into this first chain three space the put a double crochet inbetween the two petals and then we’re going to finish it by putting two double crochets into this last chain three space just like that two double crochets, one double crochet in between, two doubel crochets again a half flower do a single crochet the first chain three space then do a single crochet one single crochet in the next four
stitches then again you want to put one single crochet into the chain three space of the flower you just want to continue working the flowers this way all the way around and I’ll see you back here at the corner and i’ll show you how to do your corner
space came again to my last flower on this side it should be a full flower as your last flower start to work this flower like you did the other ones by putting two double crochets then one double crochet in between the petals okay but this last corner here this chain three space I want to put a single crochet and then my top puff stitch I want to put a single crochet and now i’m going to skip this last chain three space and then in this little middle space in between the petals i want to put two double crochets chain one and in that same space put two more double crochets all into that same space then now we’re going to be starting our side bottom near the tip of our heart the bottom so we’re going to be doing both the top and bottom sides the same way go into this first chain three space and do a single crochet and then the top puff stitch you put a single crochet and again in the chain three space put a single crochet now from now on this is how you’re going to continue to
do this when you get down to this next part of the flower where it kind of dips down here we will put one double crochet and one double crochet in this one so all the lower petals you put one double crochet into that chain three space that’s one then the next one put one double crochet then when you come back to the top middle petal it will always be done the same do a single crochet in the chain three space one single crochet in the top puff stitch and then one single crochet in the last chain three stitch then again we have two bottom petals here so put one double crochet in the chain three space and one double crochet in the next chain three space then again this is the top petal work it the same way, single crochet in the chain three space single crochet in the top puff stitch and single crochet in the next chian thee space and then you would just repeat again and again for the rest of the row so it works out as DC, DC, sc, sc, sc, DC, DC continue that all the way and i’ll see you when you get back up to the next corner okay i’m on my last flower on this side you want to work the very last flower as usual with the one double crochet and this one you also want to work the same by putting your single crochets so it’s just like this except when you get to this section in between the flowers we’re
going to be starting a corner we’ll work it like this put your two double crochets in between the petals chain one and put two double crochets in that same space so the last time you work as normal until you get to your last petal, you’ll stop and do your two double crochets, chain one, two double crochets so for this flower, do one single crochet in each stitch at the top, then two double crochets, chain one, double crochets that is how you’re working this last flower then you’ll turn now you’ll be putting one like you did before, one single crochet in the first chain three space one single crochet and the top puff stitch and one into the next chain three space so your working this petal exactly how you worked the other side of the petal, this is where it starts to change. We’re going to be working our next side now the same way you did the other side so you’re next stitch in this chain three will be a double crochet and then now your half flowers will be worked the same do a single crochet in that chain three space and then do one single crochet into the next four stitches and then a single crochet in the chain three space of the last petal the next petal the petal that is down work it like you did the other side you put two double crochets into the first chain three space then you’ll put one double crochet in between the flowers and then two double crochets into this chain three space space then again you’ll put one single crochet in your work one single crochet into
the next four stitches and then in the last chain three space do a single crochet, then repeat two
double crochets then two double crochets your just repeating what you did, on this first side row so your two sides will be worked the same and your top the top and bottom will also be worked the same so continue around this side and ill show you what to do on your next corner I’ve come to my last flower on this side which is a half flower going to work it the same single crochet in the chain three space single crochet one in the next four
stitches when you get to this last petal here i want you to single crochet three into this first chain three space then single crochet one into this top puff stitch then single crochet one into the next chian three space then you can turn your work i’m going to be doing the last top area so your going to be working the same so you’ll be putting a double crochet into the last petal of this corner flower here then another double crochet starting the next flower then you’ll be putting one single crochet into the chain three space one single crochet through the top
puff stitch and then one single crochet into the chain three space, just like you did on the opposite side remember how you put one double crochet in each of the lower petals? and then every top petal you put a single crochet in your chain three spaces and top puff stitch and then repeat so that’s exactly what we’re going to be
doing for this other side until you come to a lower petal one of the lower petals just do a double crochet then when you get to teh center top petal work it the same way single crochet in the chain three space, single crochet in the top puff stitch single crochet in the other chain three space then do your double crochets this is how you work this side okay I’m on my last flower here keep working it the same way, a doubel crochet single crochet in my chain three space single crochet my top puff stitch now this one has already been worked with three single crochets that we started with so just slip stitch to that first single crochet connection
that we did and now chain one go into that same space do a single crochet and then do a single crochet in each
stitch around it’s gonna helped make this be a lot more defined and solid so keep going, i’m going to change colors, because I want my border to be white I’ll see you when you get back up here
