USDA Classing Office – U.S. Cotton Bale Testing | COTTON USA

One of the unique things about U.S. cotton
is we’re going to test every bale of cotton that is produced. My name is Darryl Ernest. I oversee grading of the entire US crop. There are countries that will test maybe two
samples or every other sample. Some might test every fifth, every 10th. COTTON USA
The Only One That’s 100% Graded. Every bale of cotton that’s grown in the United
States is graded individually by our program. So it carries its own unique identification
card. It carries its own unique grade and attributes. Fiber length, fiber strength, fiber uniformity
and micronaire. The system knows to put all of that data together
based on the permanent bale identification card that they started with. Brands and retailers want to put a product
out that people can feel confident about and feel like is reliable. Because the amount of data that we have the
mill can make their products with more confidence. The brands and retailers can then purchase
with a little bit more confidence. 100% Graded Means
You Get What You Order. From the very beginning where the seed goes
in the ground all the way until a product is made is very sustainable. It’s a confidence thing. It’s a peace of mind. The brands and retailers and mills and manufacturers
trust us to get it right. COTTON USA
